An Early Start

It was a bright morning when Rina Rabbit rose to the season’s first chill. She quickly pulled her arms back under the warmth of the wool blanket she’d knitted herself. The blanket was her favorite shade of bottle green, and she loved it because her close friend Ms. Sheep had given her the wool to make it. Ms. Sheep took great care to grow and dye her wool naturally, so it was always the finest in the region.

Despite the comfort she felt nestled in bed, Rina Rabbit drudged her way into the kitchen to brew her daily cup of tea. It was of the greatest importance that she have her tea every morning. If she didn’t, the day was bound to go terribly, and it was an important day, so she didn’t dare to risk going without it.

Procrastination

The young rabbit was to spend her day working on her article for the Women’s National Book Association. She had put it off quite long enough, and the task simply had to be done. She would start on it immediately after finishing her berried yogurt and buttered toast. It was, after all, important to fuel herself with a proper meal if she wanted to get any work done.

As she headed to her desk after breakfast, Rina caught in the corner of her eye the half-finished jigsaw puzzle she had started the week before. Well she simply couldn’t leave it undone. The pieces had already covered her coffee table for five whole days. She couldn’t tempt fate any longer; if she let the stray pieces linger they were bound to get lost. Then all the hard work she’d put in would be lost.

Jigsaw

So she got to work on the puzzle, and though it took several hours, once she finished, Rina was relaxed and ready to start her article. She was just heading over to her desk when she noticed her copy of Bartimaeus: Ptolemy’s Gate. She had started the book two days earlier and was just itching to know how the series would end. Rina would read just a couple pages before starting the article.

A Happy End?

But a couple of pages turned into a couple more, and before Rina Rabbit knew it, the book was done and the day was over. She’d enjoyed what she’d done throughout the day; though none of it was what she had set out to do. The article would have to wait until tomorrow.
