During this time of change, so many of us are learning how to navigate our career next steps. Whether you’re exploring new professional opportunities, charting a course forward as a consultant or freelancer, figuring out how to negotiate raises and promotions at your current job, or re-entering the job market after a layoff, this panel offers insights into how to find your way through these uncertain waters and grow your career — even during COVID.

With expertise on diverse aspects of career growth and tremendous industry experience, our panelists will share perspectives on making (or revisiting) career decisions, networking (remotely!), and negotiating — for anyone who’s interested in looking for a job, growing in place, building an independent income, or pursuing an advanced degree. Through this rich discussion, this panel offers support and guidance for all of those navigating the unique contours of this new professional landscape.

Panelists include:

Bianca Bancroft is the Senior Recruiter, DEI Lead for HarperCollins Publishers. She has been with the company for three and a half years and has spent her entire career surrounded by books! She spends her days recruiting for full-time and internship roles, attending virtual college career fairs and helping to run the HarperCareers social media pages. As DEI Lead, Bianca works closely with senior leaders on diversity, equity, and inclusion programs, trainings, and other belonging and accessibility initiatives. In her spare time she loves to read funny memoirs and watch outrageous sci-fi movies, so send her a recommendation!

Michele Cobb worked for years as a theatre director and general manager across the globe before she became involved in audiobooks, which provided her an excellent background in sales, marketing, people management, and presentation. Now a recognized expert in the audio publishing industry, she began her audiobook career as Assistant Managing Director for L.A. Theatre Works, became Vice President of Sales & Marketing for the British Broadcasting Corporation audiobooks division, and has served on the Audio Publishers Association (APA) board since 2001 as a director, officer, and Executive Director. As a consultant for PR, Sales, Marketing, and Business Development services, she works with a long list of clients and is Publisher of both AudioFile Magazine and MMB Media LLC. Michele is an avid traveler who enjoys being in front of a crowd and she is a frequent, popular speaker at conferences, workshops, events and panels. Michele enjoys traipsing the globe with her husband and daughter whenever she can, and winning Fitbit step contests.

Amy DiGiovine is an advisor at Harvard’s Office of Career Services, focusing on Arts, Entertainment, Media, Advertising, Journalism, Publishing, Fashion, Sports, & Pre-Law. Prior to joining the Harvard OCS team, Amy advised both undergraduate and graduate students as a Pre-Law Adviser & Assistant Director of Career Engagement at Boston College. Amy has over eight years of career development experience and has also worked in career services at Stonehill College and Salem State University. Amy holds a BA in psychology with a minor in music from Boston University and an MEd in Higher Education and Student Affairs from Salem State University. In their free time, Amy and her husband enjoy vegetarian cooking, especially making homemade pastas and hosting afternoon tea. When they aren’t trying new recipes, they can be found attending Boston Symphony Orchestra concerts, enjoying their Broadway in Boston subscription, or relaxing with their two cats Catticus Finch and Scout.

Amy Gallo is an expert in conflict, communication, and workplace dynamics. She is the author of the HBR Guide to Dealing with Conflict, a how-to guidebook about handling conflict professionally and productively. In her role as a contributing editor at Harvard Business Review, Amy writes frequently about a range of topics with a focus on interpersonal dynamics, communicating ideas, leading and influencing people, and building your career. Amy is also currently a co-host of HBR’s Women at Work podcast, which is in its sixth season. Before working with Harvard Business Review, Amy was a management consultant at Katzenbach Partners, a strategy and organization firm based in New York (later acquired by Booz & Company, which is now Strategy&).
