Did you know that March is Women’s History Month? In the face of recent debates in Washington, new legislation attempts, and outrageous radio slanders, Women’s History Month is as important to remember as it ever was. This is an opportunity for men and women alike to pay tribute to the incredible women who helped to shape our nation.
The theme of Women’s History Month this year is ‘Women’s Education – Women’s Empowerment.’ The National Women’s History Project, which was instrumental in the passing of legislation designating March for women’s history, has an excellent article on the history of women’s education on its website. The Library of Congress’s Women’s History Month website is another great source of information. Here you can find articles, photos, webcasts, and videos on a variety of subjects. Particularly interesting to WNBA members might be the list of webcasts from the 2011 National Book Festival, where you can see a selection of female writers discussing their books.
And to all of you incredible women who are shaping the nation right now, each and every day, we say thank you!
