Don’t worry, we have plenty of ways to distract you from the fact that winter is coming (literally), and that the new Song of Ice and Fire book is not (is anyone else perpetually tormented by this fact?). With over 50 programs scheduled throughout the day and an A-list of authors attending,thisevent is bound to be abook-lovers heaven. Notable authors include Jennifer Egan, Joyce Carol Oates, and Sci-fi star N.K. Jemisin. There will be plenty of vendor giveaways for anyone needing a new bookmark. And, early birds to visit the WNBA booth will receive a free book from this year’s National Reading Group Month book list!

Literature Out Loud: Women of Poetry

Is it a long lunch type of day? Join the New York Public Library for a discussion of the great women that have influenced poetry history. From Sappho, to Emily Dickinson, to Adrienne Rich — come for a reading and discussion of the literary passages written by these greats!

From Blog to Book: How Online Platforms Are Transforming Book Publishing

Hosted by the American Book Producers Association, as part of their “Brown Bag” program, this event offers a look American Book Producers Association Logoat how aspiring authors can go from blog to book. Is it as simple as having a high number of followers? The panel will discuss what to look for and what to avoid. Whether you’re an author or editor, this could be an invaluable opportunity to learn from the following panelists:

Nitehawk Cinemas is celebrating the release of Adam Nayman’s new book, The Coen Brothers: This Book Really Ties the Films Together, with a special viewing of this Coen brothers’ movie. The movie will be followed by a discussion between Nayman and film critic Violet Lucca. Can you imagine a better event for a biblio- and cinephile?

October 6th

The Ladies Who Brunch Discuss: I’ll See You in Paris

While this event isn’t technically until October, it will keep your September busy. Join the WNBA for their next book club brunch to discuss the narrative strengths and weaknesses of this session’s pick. I’ve attended other brunches and can attest the ladies are lovely and the discussion informative!
