On Saturday, October 27th, two of our WNBA-NYC members will be involved in the 2012 Self-Publishing Book Expo! The Self-Publishing Book Expo is “a learning center for the self-publishing community”—a chance for published and aspiring authors to learn more about self-publishing from a variety of professionals.
Members Rose Carrano and Meryl Zegarek will both be participants in the panel called “Publicity Brainstorming: Target New Promotion Ideas in One-On-One Sessions with PR Pros.” The session will give authors the opportunity to brainstorm publicity ideas for their books alongside PR professionals. Attendees will get 15 minutes with one of the experts, gaining advice on how to generate visibility and media coverage.
From the Self-Publishing Book Expo website:
“Rose Carrano has worked in the publishing industry for over thirty years. She’s worked at Macmillian, McGraw-Hill, Franklin Watts, and HarperCollins Publishers. As Director of Publicity at HarperCollins, she handled many high-profile campaigns and was responsible for overseeing staff, budgets, and campaigns for hardcover, trade paperback and reference imprints. She opened Rose Carrano Public Relations—a full service public relations and consulting firm—in 2000. Some of her clients include Barnes & Noble, Black Dog & Leventhal, HarperCollins, Henry Holt, Simon & Schuster, Inner Traditions/Bear & Company, Middleway Press, Skyhorse Publishing, and Stewart Tabori & Chang.
Meryl Zegarek is an expert in the fields of publicity, promotion and book publishing. She has more than thirty years experience building comprehensive publicity campaigns in public relations agencies, major New York City publishing houses, and in broadcasting. Prior to starting her own firm, in 2000, Ms. Zegarek served as Director of Publicity for two divisions of the Knopf Publishing Group, Pantheon & Schocken Books.”
The Publicity Brainstorming session will be from 2:30 – 4:00 on October 27th at the Sheraton NY Hotel & Towers. Attendees must purchase a ticket for the day’s panels. For more information on the event, see the Self-Publishing Book Expo website.
