First Book – Manhattan is a non-profit organization that provides new books for children in need. To help achieve this mission, they are hosting their 1st Annual Winter Soirée! The Soirée will take place on Thursday, November 29 at Midtown 1015, starting at 7:30 PM. This two-hour event will include hors d’oeuvres, an open bar, raffles and prizes, and a live DJ.
Proceeds from the evening’s festivities will help raise funds to buy new books for children affected by the devastation of Hurricane Sandy. Some of the proceeds will also go towards supporting Harlem Village Academies (HVA). HVA is a network of charter schools in Harlem that encourages students who think critically, argue passionately, and take ownership of their learning. You can help support both of these causes by buying a ticket or making a donation. Register early for discounted tickets at $50 by visiting their website.
First Book – Manhattan is also excited to announce that they just reached their goal to donate 100 million books, and received a nationwide showcase on ABC7 with Diane Sawyer. You can see the showcase here!
