The Center for Fiction‘s first event of the new year is called “Author & Editor & Agent: Luis Alberto Urrea, Geoff Shandler, & Julie Barer.” This panel will be a discussion of the process authors go through in publishing their books, from finding an agent to working with an editor, and more. Taking the audience through the process will be Pulitzer Prize finalist Luis Alberto Urrea, his editor, Geoff Shandler of Little, Brown & Co., and his agent, Julie Barer. Barer will be a familiar name to those of you who attended the WNBA-NYC’s Making of a Bestseller panel, as she joined us as a panelist in that event.
Luis Alberto Urrea is the author of the bestseller The Hummingbird’s Daughter, as well as The Devil’s Highway and Into the Beautiful North. His newest novel is the much-anticipated sequel to The Hummingbird’s Daughter, entitled Queen of America. The trio will discuss the roles of authors, agents, and editors in taking a book from idea to bookshelf. The panel will take place on Thursday January 10, at 6:30 PM at the Center for Fiction.
