Dear WNBA Community,

It is wonderful to be back to work now that the summer has come and gone. While I will miss the warm days and sunny skies, I do love the fall, a bit more routine and all of the changes that the season brings. Plus, the WNBA – NYC Chapter has been working diligently all summer to put together a stellar fall programming season.

We are so proud of our annual events like our National Reading Group Month panel, which will take place at the iconic Strand Bookstore for the 3rd year in a row, and our November women’s writing panel, this year on Political Fiction, is again being generously hosted and co-sponsored by the English, Women and Gender Studies and Publishing programs at Pace University.

Our fall programming includes the following:

Our spring season is looking equally exciting and will also be filled with opportunities to connect and network with your fellow Bookwomen from all over the world. Please consider joining us for one of our neighborhood lunches or any of the events that interest you. We also are constantly growing and developing our Advisory Board and Committee Chairs and we welcome new volunteers with open arms. This June we elected a new board for a two-year term.

I am excited and honored to be starting my second term as the NYC Chapter President and I have also been elected as the VP Elect for the National Organization. This means that in the 2017, the year of our centennial celebration, I will be the President of the National Organization. Our preparations have begun for this landmark anniversary and it is a really exciting time to be involved with the WNBA. We are an all-volunteer organization so your commitment to working together for promotion of women in the world of books, is essential and the rewards are remarkable. Our dues are modest and your generosity is always appreciated. Please consider joining us (click to join here).

I hope to see many of you at our Fall Kick–Off party on Wednesday, September 10th (click here to rsvp) and if not then, at one of our other great events.

Please keep your eye out for our fall newsletter that will be emailed to all members in the coming weeks. We will be telling you more about some of our panelists, sharing some of the great things our members are doing and hearing about what of our board members have been reading and recommending.

Here is to a wonderful fall…..

The Women’s National Book Association was founded in 1917 by female booksellers who weren’t allowed in the men’s organizations. Nearly 100 years later, the WNBA is still supporting women in the book industry through literary events, networking, literacy projects, workshops, open mic nights, book clubs, and many other entertaining programs throughout the season!
