International Women’s Day — Join Women on the Bridge!

Thursday, March 8 is International Women’s Day! Today, women around the globe remember to be proud, to be vocal, and to give back to the community.

In celebration of International Women’s Day, Women for Women International (www.womenforwomen.org) has organized the event Women on the Bridge. The mission of this organization is to provide women survivors of war, civil strife, and other conflicts with the tools and resources to move from crisis and poverty to stability and self-sufficiency, thereby promoting viable civil societies.

Today, join Women for Women International on the bridge! Last year, thousands of women and men gathered on more than 464 bridges in 70 countries. You can make a difference. Join as a group, or as an individual — you won’t be alone. Go to //joinmeonthebridge.org to find your bridge and information on how to fundraise for the day.

“Stand with women on March 8 to build bridges of peace and hope for the future.”

  1. Does anyone know why this takes place on a week day? It would draw more participants if it were on the weekend. I know IWD is set as March 8, but couldn’t an event like this take place on the preceding or following weekend?
