Around Town: Slice Literary Writers’ Conference

Slice Magazine is hosting its second annual writers’ conference on July 20 and 21 at St. Francis College in downtown Brooklyn. Top editors, agents, and authors will discuss the crucial steps that help launch a writer’s career. But a book deal is just the beginning of a writer’s professional journey. Slice has invited leading professionals to offer trade secrets about how they transform a great story into a bestselling book. These discussions will cover essential elements of the publishing process, all with the emerging writer in mind. Participants include an all-star cast from the publishing world, including:

  • Bestselling authors Lev Grossman, Kurt Andersen, Jami Attenberg, and Evan Hughes talking about the literary view from Brooklyn
  • Lynne Tillman (FENCE), Brigid Hughes (A Public Space), and Mary Gannon (Poets & Writers) conversing about the curious world of literary magazines
  • Byrd Leavell (Waxman Literary Agency), Richard Nash (Cursor), and Erin Malone (WME Entertainment) chatting about getting lost and found in social media
  • And so much more from writers, authors, agents, and publishing professionals

Panel descriptions, schedules, and other details can be found at www.slicemagazine.org/conferences.
