Around Town: BookCourt

This week we take our Around Town feature to Brooklyn, where locals have long patronized the independent bookstore BookCourt. Established in 1981, BookCourt serves the Court Street neighborhood with top notch customer service, recommendations, reading groups, and in-store events. Their busy event calendar offers Brooklynites great opportunities to meet and mingle with their favorite fiction and non-fiction authors.

This week, BookCourt hosts Ellen Ullman on Thursday, March 1st, at 7:00 pm. Ellen Ullman is the author of The Bug, a New York Times Notable Book, and the memoir Close to the Machine. Her new novel, By Blood, goes on sale today! Hosted by Maud Newton, the event will include a release party for Ullman’s new book, an author reading, an audience Q&A, a book signing, and a panel discussion.

For more information on this or other events at BookCourt, visit their website at bookcourt.com.

  1. Around Town is a good feature for this blog and BookCourt definitely of interest. Thanks for this post.

  2. Living on Amity Street right opposite Book Court, I’m glad to see WNBA dropping by this great independent book-store that has been a part of my life for many years. Service is wonderful — 24 hours to get ordered books — and it’s a very pleasant place to linger in and look at books.
