Around Town: Asian American Writers Workshop

AAWWThe Asian American Writers Workshop (AAWW) is a national not-for-profit arts organization devoted to the creating, publishing, developing, and disseminating of creative writing by Asian Americans. The AAWW publishes works by new writers in their various online magazines, and also gives fellowships to emerging writers in hopes of promoting upcoming talent. On Saturday, December 8th, the AAWW will be hosting their first annual publishing conference, from 12:00 PM — 6:00 PM at Daruma Asset Management.

The AAWW publishing conference will offer panels on how to frame a pitch, find an agent, and sell yourself without selling your soul. This all-day six-panel event aims to help you get out of your cubicle and master the craft of forging connections in the publishing world. For a separate fee, they will also be offering one-on-one consultation sessions with venerable agents and editors from agencies and publishers such as the Simon & Schuster imprint Touchstone, and William Morris Endeavor. This is a chance to get valuable tips on getting your manuscript out of the slush pile and onto the shelves. Open to writers of all ages, races, and genres!
