For Book Lovers: 2017 Brooklyn Book Festival Bookend Events

With September comes theBrooklyn Book Festival! Unique for being such a large free literary event in New York City, it’s the perfect opportunity for book lovers to get back into the swing of the book world after the summer.

The WNBA-NYC chapter will be represented at booth #345 on Sunday, but, until then, September 11th to 16th has a long list of events around the city associated with the Brooklyn Book Festival to check out! Many of the events in the lead-up to Festival Day on Sunday (the Bookend Events) are free, but a few do have entry fees noted below. Check out the full schedule for even more!

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 11th

For Langston Hughes fans:
6:30 pm: An evening of poetry in the Langston Hughes brownstone (Harlem)

For social butterflies:
7 pm: The Brooklyn Book Festival Opening Night Party (Brooklyn)

For poets:
7 pm: A poetry workshop and open mic night (Brooklyn), $5-10

For New Yorkers:
7:40 pm: Readings by native New Yorker non-fiction writers (Manhattan)

For music lovers:
8 pm: A musical-literary performance supplemented by fiction and memoir readings (Brooklyn)


Networking

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 12th

For WNBA-NYC members:
6:30 pm: There are great events for book lovers going on Tuesday, but by far the best isn’t associated with the Brooklyn Book Festival. After all, this is the night of the WNBA-NYC 2017 Season Kick-Off and Networking Party! Register here or read about the event in the past!
